Overall The Binding of Isaac Rebirth is one of my favourite games of all time if you have not played it I highly recommend you pick it up for yourself. The game performs fairly well, having little to no game breaking glitches, the projectiles collide just as the player would want them to and the effects the game uses are visually pleasing and fit each pickup you collect. There is also a Coop mode for the game where you can play locally with your friend. Each floor is randomly generated so you will never play the exact same floor again unless you use a seed for the game. The game’s objective is simply to get to the end of the game by moving down on floors, the further down you get the more difficult the game gets. The more items you get the more disfigured your character ends up looking so by the end of the game you may be a black flying demon with a disfigured face or still look like Isaac with some other changes to yourself. Your tears change throughout the game depending on what items you get in the game so for example, you can get an item called Brimstone which changes your tears from a simple projectile to a laser beam or you can get simpler pickups such as tiny planet which just shoots tears around your character in an orbiting fashion. You use your tears to fight off enemies and destroy obstacles such as fire and poop. The game is (as mentioned earlier) a twin-stick shooter game where you play as a character named Isaac at first but as the game goes along you unlock more characters. He used a lot of his old characters in the game too such as a boss called Gish, Larry jr and you can even get super meat boy in the game.Įnough about the art style lets talk about gameplay. Personally, I love the design that the game takes, using a pixilated art style and using biblical references for the design of in-game items, bosses, and characters. I wouldn’t really say that the game had an ideal target audience in mind when developing having an even split between a male and female demographic. The game is rated as an M for mature but due to its violent natures and biblical references, I would put it at a 16+. I would say the intended audiences for The Binding of Isaac Rebirth is for ages 16 and up. The IOS release came as a shock to me to see it so popular as I thought the game would have been too fast paced for a mobile port but it is well received and not many people have problems playing the game on their iPhone or Ipad. The game is a twin-stick shooter so naturally, the game plays well with a controller but the original game was played with a keyboard and you could use a mouse, although not very favoured from The Binding of Isaac community. Finally 2 years later it was released on the Nintendo switch and also an IOS port was also released. The game was later released a year later for the Xbox One, New Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.
